Lollapalooza

I took my daughter to Lollapalooza this year.   This was the first time for the both of us.   Her main goal was to see Ado live.   A couple of years ago, Ado came to Chicago and had a live show at the United Center.  We were unfortunately out of town.    My daughter had been wanting to see Ado live.   She mentioned that Ado will be performing at Lollapalooza this year.   I wanted to get her the ticket, but also wanted it to be a surpise.  So my reply were always, well Lolla has always been crazy, and now with weed being legal in Chicago, that is what you will mostly smell, and it will be crowded.    So that was the reason that she has been telling her friends why she isn't going to Lolla.   

So in April, I purchased 2 tickets to Lolla, one for me, one for my daughter.   She also got a Lolla lanyard as part of her ticket.   My daughter did not know this at all.  I then patently waited.   In June/July, I was notified that tickets were mailed out.   On the day of delivery, I intentionally grabbed a lot of stuff out of the truck, and told my daughter to check the mail.  She brought in mail and a large shipping envelope.    I asked her to see if anything was important.  She replied, there is a large envelope, and she doesn't know what it is or where it came from.   While I was putting my stuff down, I asked her to check.  She saw that it came from Lollapalooza, and was so surprised, and screamed:" WHATTT?" I asked her to open the envelope, and she saw the wrist bands, and she screamed:" we are going to Lollapalooza?  I'm gonna go see Ado?"  I replied with pride:" Yes."   

We went on Sunday, the last day of Lolla and there were still a TON of people going.    We saw Yoasobi first, and was planning on seeing at least 1 other artist before waiting at the stage for Ado.    It took about 45 min to use the washroom, and everywhere had a long line.   I told my daughter that we should skip other shows and head straight to the stage so we can be up front.    We headed over to Air BnB stage, and Monaleo was still performing.  We waited until that was over, and walked towards the front.   We ended up in the front 7-8 ish row when Stella Lefty started.   That was surprisingly a good show.   While watching Stella Lefty, we saw a ton of Ado fans in the crowd, and we all had the same idea:" come early and move to the front for Ado's show. "    as Stella Lefty wrapped up her performance, the crowd started to PUSH forward.   The Stella lefty fans were having a hard time leaving the stage.    We were literally pushed to forward, and we ended up in the 4-5 row and waiting for Ado to start.    This was the craziest part.   The Ado fans are crazy, many were dressed up with customs, head bandannas, blue rose light sticks, etc.    We were shoulder to shoulder with others, and there was barely any room to move at all.    While the band was setting up the stage, people were screaming, and making up songs.    Evantually the stage was built, and the show is about to start.     Because we were in the front, the staff used cameras to record videos of the crowd and we were lucky enough to be in the official Ado social media page.   

Ado starts the show with such strong energy, the lights, the music, and people singing along the song next to us... it was exhilarating.     She sang 10+ songs, and the fans were singing along with each song, and dance around.    It was a mosh pit towards the front of the stage.   One person even jumped up and have others carry him on top of the crowds.    We where so close to the stage, the we could feel the heat from the pyrotechnics fireworks.   I had definately lost my hearing from the show.  

I enjoyed it, I know my daughter really enjoyed it.   And she was happy that she get to see Ado live, and being so close to the performance.    I definately lost hearing from the performance.  I enjoyed it, but I don't think I'd be back anytime soon.
